This Independence Day, BBA(DBE) learners came together to celebrate freedom through
creativity and technology at the DBE VibeCoding Hackathon. Over a 48-hour sprint, 84 student
teams harnessed AI as a coding partner to build solutions around the theme of Independence
and Digital Innovation.

A Showcase of Ideas

The hackathon received a wide variety of submissions, each addressing unique challenges
through digital innovation. From platforms combating food waste and hunger, to tools
empowering voters with transparent political data, to civic engagement applications that make
community action easier, the projects reflected both originality and purpose. Some tackled
issues of entrepreneurship and self-reliance for artisans and MSMEs, while others focused on
personal empowerment through health, skills, and education.
What stood out across all entries was the willingness to experiment with AI tools and the
determination to turn raw ideas into functional prototypes within a short timeframe. Learners
showed not only technical execution but also a commitment to social impact, aligning their work
with the broader ideals of empowerment and independence.

The Winners

First Place: Jan Saarthi (by Harsh Vardhan Singh)

Jan Saarthi is a web application designed to strengthen Indian democracy by simplifying
complex candidate affidavits into clear, verifiable, and comparable insights. It tackles the trust
deficit in the electoral process by using AI to summarize financial and legal data, visualize asset
history, and enable side-by-side comparisons of candidates.

The project impressed the judges with its originality, theme alignment, and impact, showcasing
how digital empowerment can directly enhance democratic participation.

Runner-Up: Zero Waste, Freedom from Hunger (by Yash Goel)

Zero Waste is a redistribution platform connecting households, restaurants, and event
organizers with NGOs serving meals. With features such as real-time donation tracking and
role-specific dashboards, it creates a streamlined system to fight hunger and reduce waste.

The project was praised for its immediate social relevance and powerful alignment with
Independence Day, envisioning freedom from hunger through technology.

Runner-Up: CivicConnect (by Sachin Mittal)

CivicConnect is a mobile-first web app that allows citizens to report civic issues, view them on a
live map, and track progress transparently. By simplifying collective action, it strengthens
community participation and accountability.

Judges recognized it as a practical, impactful tool with strong potential for everyday civic
empowerment.

Reflections

The judging process considered originality, execution, impact, and theme alignment. While all
teams displayed creativity and strong effort under time pressure, the winning entries stood out
for combining digital innovation with the spirit of independence and empowerment.

The DBE VibeCoding Hackathon demonstrated that our learners are not only future-ready but
also committed to using technology for meaningful change. From hunger eradication to
democratic trust and civic responsibility, the ideas built during the hackathon highlight the
transformative potential of AI-assisted innovation.

Looking Ahead

This edition of the hackathon has set a strong foundation for future challenges. By blending
creativity, AI, and social problem-solving, our learners have shown that coding can be much
more than building software. It can be a way to build freedom, opportunity, and trust.

We look forward to more such initiatives where students experiment boldly and create solutions
that matter.
